USPHL Elite Players Of The Week: North Region

Mid-Atlantic Division 

Forward: John Crowdell, Rockets Hockey Club 

The ‘03 from Staten Island had a fantastic start to the year, when he sank four goals and one assist in a game against the Jersey Hitmen. He added one goal and one assist in his second game against the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders for a 5-2-7 weekend. His 3.50 points per game over two games led the Elite for players with more than one game played. 

 

Forward: Logan Wagner, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 

Wagner (‘05/Eastport, N.Y.) officially scored the first Jr. Islanders’ USPHL Elite goal when he helped the team defeat the Rockets Hockey Club, 5-3, in their opener. Coach Aleksey Nikiforov said the whole team played well, but especially noted Wagner’s effort. 

 

Goaltender: Michael Grima, Rockets Hockey Club

Grima (‘03/Staten Island, N.Y.) joined Crowdell in joining the Rockets squad from the organization’s 18UAA team last year, and has already seen success at the junior level. Grima put up 93 saves on 99 shots faced in games against the Jersey Hitmen and Islanders. He stands with a .939 save percentage early on. 

 

North Division

Forward: Liam Norton, Bridgewater Bandits

The ‘04 forward Norton put up three goals and one assist for four points in the Bandits’ first two games on Sept. 22 and 25. He even got a chance to score a goal in his first Premier game on Sept. 24. 

 

Forward: Jack Roberts, Islanders Hockey Club

Roberts (‘04) started his season with a hat trick to help the Islanders register an 8-5 season-opening victory against Bridgewater. 

 

Goaltender: Ethan Bairos, Bridgewater Bandits

Bairos (‘04/Berkley, Mass.) started his junior career with a win, giving up just two goals to the Springfield Pics on Sept. 25.
