USPHL Elite Players Of The Week: North Region

Week of Feb. 8-14, 2023

North Division

Summaries by Joshua Boyd

Forward: Denis Menshchikov, Boston Junior Bruins

Although it was a tough week for the Junior Bruins, Menschikov (‘04/Kaliningrad, Russia) had a fantastic offensive showing of four goals and two assists, getting in on every one of the six goals his team scored over the weekend. He now has 24 points in 26 games for the Junior Bruins.

Defense: Nicolas Majeau, Islanders Hockey Club

Majeau (‘03/St-Lyn, Que.) put together a fantastic five-assist weekend as the Islanders swept the Junior Bruins. Majeau has been a steadying presence for the Elite squad, and brings Premier experience from earlier in the season to the generally younger IHC Elite team. He has 20 points in 24 Elite games for 2022-23.

Goaltender: Benjamin Remillard, Northern Cyclones

Another big week for Remillard (‘05/Sherbrooke, Que.) saw him rack up a 34-save shutout against the Springfield Pics last weekend, his best so far this season. Remillard remains unbeaten in regulation this season, with only an overtime loss clouding what would be an otherwise perfect record. He is 9-0-1-0 with a 1.80 goals against average and a .919 save percentage going into the South Shore Kings Presidents Day Showcase.

Mid-Atlantic Division

Summaries by Marlee Bulman

Forward: Jared Showen, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights

Our forward for the Mid-Atlantic is No. 38 Jared Showen (’03/Brushton, N.Y.) With the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, he was “Showen up” once again when facing off with the Rockets Hockey Club. In two games, he posted two goals and three assists, leading to Saturday’s 8-3 win and a Sunday 2-0 shutout. Hopefully, Showen is able to keep the ball rolling this weekend at the South Shore Kings Presidents Day Showcase.

Defense: Anthony Crescimanni, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders

Crescimanni (’05/Syosset, N.Y.) pulled out the big moves this weekend when facing off against the Jersey Hitmen and the New York Aviators. In Saturday’s game facing the Jersey Hitmen, Crescimanni scored in the second, pulling P.A.L. into the overtime where they eventually got the win.

Goaltender: Dylan Boughen, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights

Goaltender Of The Week is Boughen, of the Knights, who also earned January Goaltender Of The Month honors. The ’04 from Peterborough, U.K., put up a 47-save shutout in defeating the Rockets Hockey Club last week. It was the best shutout performance of his two-season Elite career. He is currently 14-0-2-0 with a 2.20 GAA and .936 save percentage.
