Week of Dec. 16, 2023

Games of Dec. 6-12, 2023

Atlantic Division

Forward: Justin Morrissey, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders

Morrissey (‘06/Patchogue, N.Y.) came up with four goals and added two assists for the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders in a pair of victories against Connecticut, giving him another six points. He currently stands with 53 points in 26 games this season.

Forward: John Crowdell, Rockets Hockey Club

Crowdell (‘03/Staten Island, N.Y.) matched exactly the output of Justin Morrissey when he put up four goals and two assists for six points in two games. The Crowdell Watch is on, as he remains just 25 points away from tying the all-time scoring record for the USPHL Elite. He has 68 points in 24 games, just past the midpoint of the season, well past the pace to become the all-time leader. He also has three goals in five Premier games this year.

Goaltender: Luke Pavone, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders

Pavone (‘06/Smithtown, N.Y.) got his first junior victory when he stopped 31 out of 32 shots put on him by the Connecticut Jr. Rangers on Dec. 8. He joined the Islanders out of the Long Island Royals program.

New England Division

Forward: Adam Hadi, Islanders Hockey Club

It only took Hadi (‘05/Coppell, Texas) one game to be his division’s top scorer for the period of Dec. 6-12, as he put up two goals and two assists for four points against the Northern Cyclones in a huge win between the rivals. He has 20 points in 23 games so far this season.

Defense: Matthew Taylor, Northern Cyclones

Taylor keeps getting the job done for the Cyclones. The ‘05 from Wake Forest, N.C., registered a pair of assists for his team as they split the week between a loss to the Islanders and a 4-1 victory against the Springfield Pics. The Captain has now put up 27 points in 20 Elite games and played in a pair of Premier games as well.

Goaltender: Kyle Mahan, Islanders Hockey Club

Mahan (‘04/Danvers, Mass.) is a local product who joined the IHC out of the Essex Tech program in his hometown. He turned away 38 of 40 shots against him by the Northern Cyclones for his first Elite win. Mahan was also up with the Premier Islanders team for five games, over which he won three in a row in November.
